Approximately - but on a micro-plan - just as the Sea of ​​Marmara is located between the Black and Aegean seas, with which it is connected by the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits, so is part of the extended Boko Kotor water area between the Risan-Kotor and Tivat bays connected by the straits of Verige and St. Sunday. At those bay post offices, two townspeople turned their windows to each other: Kamenari on one side of the winding coastal line, and Lepetane on the other.

The stone masons were named after the masters of the stone mason's craft, as well as after the numerous majdans of exceptionally high-quality stone. However, Kamenari is better known for the fact that ferries run from here to neighboring Lepetane. They shorten the journey by 50 or more kilometers. Bokelji still call ferries catarama, by analogy with those already forgotten wooden ships from the beginning of the last century, which connected the two nearest coasts, and were connected by a wooden platform for accommodating passengers and cargo.

Depending on the winds and sea currents, modern ferries today cover the distance between Kamenar and Lepetan in 5 to 10 minutes. The fastest and largest ferry is "Igalo". There are three more: "Kamenari", "Lepetane" and "Perast". The overhaul of these vessels is carried out regularly in the nearby shipyard, so that, although short, the journey is always safe. An unwritten tradition is still respected today: people from one ferry wave to people from another! Ferries run regularly until midnight every day of the year, and every hour until dawn. In the summer, if a traveler finds himself in an endless line of cars, it is better not to wait for the ferry at all, but to drive around the Bay: it will save time and there will be something to see on the way to Kotor, and beyond - along the only fjord in the Mediterranean (Boka Kotorska, Montenegro).

In Kamenari, a transit place, except in the ancient Katurić inn (since 1901), it is impossible to feel the charms of tourism, nor can you buy autochthonous souvenirs anywhere. If someone wanted to, he simply wouldn't have time for it: there is always traffic pressure here, especially in the high season. However, the most original souvenir - is and will be a piece of exceptionally high-quality stone from the hamlet of Đurići!, which is a kilometer uphill, towards the nearby village of Kruševice. The first Slovenian pope, Pope Sixto V, Peretti - which means pear - was born there! In the village of Đurići, God or Nature planted the best quality stone of Boka Kotorska and Montenegro. Stonemasons have been extracting it for centuries, excavating it in the form of quality slabs, then processing, selling, exporting, and installing it in many coastal churches and palaces. Not only in the local ones! The pedestal for the famous monument in front of the Palace of the United Nations in New York, USA was built from stone from Kamenar. It was also built into some palaces in Venice...

Kamen from Kamenar speaks all languages. If you have time, you can pick up a souvenir yourself for free during your annual vacation. Tons of first-class, so-called waste, so far no one has offered to offer it to tourists in suitable packaging. In essence, this is a certain advantage of Kamenar and the official Montenegrin slogan Wild Beauty, because it proves that a true souvenir can still be "picked up", and not paid for! Kamenari is a place that has been recorded in the traffic history of Boka Kotorska and Montenegro due to another specificity. The first Bokel omnibus was born here. More than 110 years ago, the place was known not only for road traffic, but also for sea traffic. The Bokelj omnibus was the first joint-stock company that, after receiving concessions from the Austrian authorities at the time, established regular traffic on the line Kamenari - Herceg Novi. The omnibus (horse-drawn carriage) could accommodate 25 passengers. A similar omnibus operated in Dubrovnik, from the same year 1899.

Several hundred thousand vehicles are transported annually by Kamenar ferries. Years ago, there was intense talk about the need to build the "Verige" bridge. Although the bridge is called Verige in the plans, it should actually bridge Cape St. Neđelja and Cape Opatovo. In Kamenari, there is a gallery of Mata Đuranović, a painter with a degree from an American school. And the gallery of the sea captain and Gulf mason, Tom Katurić, also the most awarded Montenegrin philatelist. Orthodox Church of St. Sunday dominates Cape St. Sunday. It is hardly the most picturesque, because it is right above the sea, in a laurel forest. It is mentioned in the cadastre from 1704. During the Venetian Republic, there was also a Roman Catholic altar in the church.

In Kamenari, there are, equally built with quality stone: the church of St. Nicholas from the 18th century, Our Lady of the Rosary from the 19th century and the church of St. Anne. In terms of conditions and beauty, the most generous is the bathing place on Cape Sv. Sunday. The sandy beach is additionally decorated with one of the most typical decorations of the Mediterranean - a lighthouse. Unlike the frontal lighthouse, which flashes blue on Cape Opatovo, the stone lighthouse flashes red at night. For decades, that beach has been a privileged post for lovers. The charm of naked night bathing is known to be disturbed by cuttlefish hunters from the boat. Their gas lanterns light up and record just about every event!
