The story of the Savina winery is really the story of the estate, of the monastery and of our family. Many years ago we came across an old Venetian cadastral map from 1753 in the city museum. We discovered that our estate was called Villa di Meljine, with the entire territory of Savina planted with vineyards, and we knew what we had to do. Our house, farm and winery are located on the slopes of Savina, above the Savina Monastery in the Meljina part of Herceg Novi. The winery is located there, hidden in the lush Mediterranean vegetation, in an idyllic coastal and forest setting. As for our venture into viticulture, it began 17 years ago, as an extension of a great, sincere love for wine. After years of visiting the best wineries in France, Italy and the region, my wife Gordana and I decided to do something for ourselves, our estate and the whole region. Our wines appeared on the market only in 2014. Our goal is to stay small and make wines for Boka Kotorska, the littoral and just a little for our friends in Belgrade, no more than 20,000 bottles in total. Our wines feature a light and fresh, summer style. Our plan is to make a serious dessert wine from the local Žižak variety. First of all, we want to revive our region, to preserve it, to restore it.
