Mount Orjen rises to 1,894 metres above the coast near Herceg Novi, making it the highest peak in the coastal Dinaric Alps. The mountain receives some of the heaviest precipitation in Europe, fuelling lush vegetation and spectacular displays of spring wildflowers. Hiking routes traverse karst landscapes, alpine meadows, and remnants of Austro-Hungarian military trails from the early 20th century. On clear days, the summit offers sweeping views across the Bay of Kotor and the Adriatic, connecting the mountains to the sea in a single panorama.
