Risan

Risan is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the Bay of Kotor, with roots stretching back to the 3rd century BC when it served as the stronghold of the Illyrian Queen Teuta. This small, unassuming town on the bay's northern shore holds remarkable archaeological significance, most notably its beautifully preserved Roman-era floor mosaics depicting Hypnos, the Greek god of sleep — the only known representation of this deity in mosaic form on the entire eastern Adriatic coast.
