An ornithological trail has been opened in a special reserve for bird watching on Solili in Tivat, with two bird hides. The proximity to the sea and the well-preserved geological features of this lagoon make it particularly attractive for birds. The shallow salt water, rich in marine life, and the muddy bottom rich in benthos, attract waterfowl to feed, winter and stop over during fall and spring migrations. 47 species of waterfowl have been recorded on Solili, of which 4 species are permanent residents, about 35 winter there and 6 probably nest there. Including other groups of birds - 111 species have been recorded on Solili to date. A special reserve of flora and fauna Due to its importance for the survival of plant life rarely encountered along the 800 km eastern Adriatic coast, in 2007 Solila was placed under protection as a special reserve of plant and animal life. Help the birds Artificial nests (birdhouses) are mostly occupied by cavity-nesting birds. Winter is the time of selection, when only the strongest survive. During dry periods, it is more important to provide the birds with drinking water than food.
