Durmitor National Park covers an area of 39,000 hectares, with 20,000 hectares under UNESCO protection after being inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1980. Durmitor also includes the highest town in the Balkans - Žabljak, located at 1,456 m above sea level.
In its incredibly deep and picturesque valleys, Durmitor hides eighteen glacial lakes or, as the locals call them, Gorske Oči. Among them are Modro, Zminje, Vražje, Riblje and, certainly the most famous, Crno Jezero.
This mountain massif offers ideal conditions for an active holiday all year round - hiking, cycling, fishing, alpinism and snowshoeing.
