It was in Zelenica in 1902. the beginning of Montenegrin tourism. The first hotel "On the green beach" was built here, right by the sea. Until 1968, Zelenika was the last station on the Ustro-Tracian railway line from Sarajevo. At 4 and a half kilometers from Herceg Novi towards Kotor, there is a tunnel that physically divides the settlements of Meljine and Zelenik. The name of the place derives from the green plant (Phulera latifolia), a bushy plant whose roots, until recently, reached all the way to the seashore, giving it its color. Unfortunately, Zelenika does not have a single autochthonous souvenir, but it has above all a green tourist story... Unfortunately, Zelenika does not have a single autochthonous souvenir, but it has an above all green tourist story... Herzegovinian tourism actually begins with that story. Curiously, not in Herceg Novi, but in Zelenica! There, on the green coast, there is still today (in bad condition) the building of the hotel "Pension on the green beach", the first hotel on the entire coast! In 1896, the founder of the Montenegrin tuzirm, Antal Maðar, came from Budapest. In 1902, the first coastal hotel opened in Zelenica, right by the sea, with a capacity of 50 beds and 5 apartments distributed in 3 annexes. In terms of tourism, this was the first capital investment in the area of ​​the entire South Adriatic. Because, when a hotel was opened on the island of Hvar in 1905, the Želenica Pansion was already established as a "winter residence and sea bathing place"!

In 1901, the railway reached the port of Zelenika, the last station on the narrow-gauge line from Sarajevo. Old black and white photos show customers on the shore, in costumes according to the fashion of the time, just a few meters along the railway! Antal Maðar pays attention not only to the guesthouse "On the green beach", but also to its surroundings; based on Swiss, Italian and German parks, he creates an exotic park with imported plants, where he is the first to plant Phoenix chanariensis palms. The hotel business is continued by Antal's polyglot son, Adorjan, who had representatives in Prague and Budapest. Staff educated in Marseille, Paris and New York spoke five and six world languages. Maðar also organized the first tourist trips, boat trips around Boke Bay, and mountain trips to the heights of Orjena and Subra.

During the wars, the First and Second World Wars, the hotel was requisitioned and changed owners. Each subsequent owner after the previous one took less care of the hotel and the original brand: "On the green beach". The first hotel was visited by: Montenegrin king Nikola I Petrovic, Serbian king Petar I Karaðorðevic, Bulgarian king Ferdinand I Coburg, Albanian king Ahmed Zogu, and many other famous guests.

Today, the tourist and catering capacities of Zelenika have been increased, according to the texts in the luxuriously equipped monographs printed in Zagreb. Zelenika achieves a 12% increase in tourist revenue, according to reports printed in Podgorica. But it could also be said that Zelenika is having a hard time regaining the reputation it had when it was in the private hands of the Maðar family as the hotel "On the green beach". Today, Zelenika is a transit and port town with the remains of an old bridge over which the popular Ciro, narrow-gauge train crossed, until 1968, i.e. until the moment when this popular line was abolished completely.

There are greens and pastures worthy of praise. The settlement of Kuti was mentioned for the first time in 1450, during the reign of Herceg Stjepan Vukšic Kosaca. Kuti has had a public school in the Serbian language since 1878. There are so many Orthodox churches that it is difficult to find them in such a small area.

Church of St. Andrije from the 15th c. (completed at the end of the 18th century, with a bell from 1777), has an iconostasis from the 18th century, the work of Hristifor Rafailovic. In the church, an antiminus is kept, which was personally consecrated by bishop Vasilije Petrovic in 1764 in the Stanjevici monastery. For the church of St. Jovan tradition says that it was built by Herceg Stefan and demolished by the Turks in the 17th century. Speaking about the church of St. The Church of Our Lady is being developed in various ways, from the tradition that it is the oldest in this area, from the 11th century, to the one according to which 300 Herzegovinians and Montenegrins, who died in 1687 during the liberation of Novi from the Turks, were buried around the church.

On two stacks around the church of St. Ðorða from the 16th century, heavenly bodies are represented! From the ruined church of St. All that remains of Ilija is a medieval cemetery. It was of the BHStB IIIa5 series, and it was hauling a solemn composition made up of, for those times, the most comfortable saloon and passenger cars, in which there were high-ranking officials of the Austro-Hungarian railway. It was a magnificent event for Zelenika and all of Boka. Pisak signified the phenomenon of traffic, tourism and progress. Until 1901, it was possible to travel from the Gulf by ship by sea, and by land - on foot or by cart. From 1901, they became close to Belgrade, Zagreb and Vienna. The Sarajevo-Zelenika route was 156 km long. The length of the railway on the territory of Boka was 11 km, with stations: Sutorina, Igalo, Herceg Novi, Zelenika. Various goods were transported, mainly coal, wood, oil, livestock and military shipments.
