Kolašin

Kolašin is a charming mountain town in the heart of northern Montenegro, sitting at an elevation of over 950 meters and surrounded by dense forests, alpine meadows, and some of the most spectacular highland scenery in the Balkans. Long established as the country's premier ski destination, Kolašin has grown into a genuine year-round mountain resort that offers outdoor adventure in every season. Two modern ski centers serve the town. The established Kolašin 1450 offers reliable runs through forested slopes, while the brand-new Kolašin 1600 — developed with significant investment in modern gondola lifts and snowmaking — has dramatically expanded the resort's capacity and appeal, drawing skiers and snowboarders from across the region. In summer, the same mountains become a playground for hiking, mountain biking, zip-lining, and white-water rafting in the nearby Morača Canyon, whose sheer limestone walls and emerald-green river rank among Montenegro's most dramatic natural sights. Kolašin is also the principal gateway to Biogradska Gora National Park, one of the last three primeval rainforests remaining in Europe. A short drive from town leads to Biogradsko Lake, a glacial jewel surrounded by trees that are centuries old, where well-marked trails wind through a landscape of extraordinary biodiversity.
