Plav is a mountain town at the edge of a glacial lake bearing its name, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Prokletije range, known as the Accursed Mountains. Lake Plav features Hrid, a distinctive rocky islet that rises from its waters. The surrounding peaks, reaching above 2,500 metres, offer challenging hiking and untouched alpine landscapes along the border with Albania. Plav's Ottoman-era mosque and multicultural heritage reflect centuries of diverse influences in this remote northern corner of Montenegro.
