Žabljak

Zabljak is the heart of Montenegro's mountain tourism, perched at 1,456 meters above sea level on a plateau surrounded by the dramatic peaks of Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This small highland town serves as the gateway to some of the most spectacular alpine scenery in the Balkans, from the legendary Black Lake — a glacial jewel framed by dense pine forests — to the Tara River Canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe and second deepest in the world. In winter, Zabljak transforms into Montenegro's primary ski destination, with slopes at Savin Kuk and Javorovaca offering runs for all skill levels amid stunning panoramic views.
